There’s a certain joy that emanates when you feel like you’ve found music that connects with you in some way, whether its a party starter, melancholy, marlian, or rap, there is music for every taste and state. With this album brings a darker brand of music with cuts that may appear eclectic to a lot of listeners.

Here is an album that attempts at connecting to the sadness that exists in everyone, and she makes a show of this intent with scintillating beats and naked lyrics packaged in an afro-pop album.

D*A*N*G*E*R*O*U*S starts off like a scene from a horror movie and PARTY SAD FACE/CRAZY WURLD ends as advertised, “crazy”, which is consistent with the theme of the album down to the album art. LEAVE ME ALONE comes off as a cry for help explaining to listeners that she like very many people has moments when she’d like her space and… JUMPING SHIP, the first song that I listened to, sent to me by an amazing person, was how I got introduced to the album. I especially enjoyed the sprinkle of magic from Santi (Cruel Santino) on this track.

SAD, U BROKE MY HEART is the peak of that wave of sadness as it shows just how much pain can be turned into something beautiful. I posted this song on twitter and got asked if I was okay, to that person, I appreciate the concern but you should listen to this track and you just might love it as much as I do. There’s a lot to enjoy in the transitions that exists between the trio of songs including “SAD, U BROKE MY HEART”, “3AM”, and “SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY” with the last two of the three creating an atmosphere to move your hips to. CELINE involved features from Kyu Steed & 6, a track full of vibes and a chorus that has since stuck to my memory. I’ll admit that seeing a track titled HELLZ ANGEL can be somewhat daunting but this song is anything but, with a groovy and rich production supplemented with delightful vocals I couldn’t help but enjoy. FANCY, FANTASY and TRUST FUND BABY made me realize that this “angel” has a lot more to give in terms of raw talent and I hope she continues to deliver.

In conclusion, Amaraae aka Amarachi has impressed me very much with THE ANGEL YOU DON’T KNOW and I’ll be looking forward to hearing more from her in the future.

Praise, J.J
